A big thanks goes out to all of the students and familes who donated for "All for Books". We raised $159. With the money, we bought 16 new books for our school library. The most popular book sold was Diary of a Wimpy Kid Hard Luck. The most popular item sold was the light up pen. We will be having another book fair in March 2014.  Thanks to Mrs. Braley and all of the parent volunteers that helped with this year's book fair.

Book Fair

Thanksgiving and Christmas are upon us and about giving. We will be collecting

non-perishable foods from Oct. 21st- Nov. 4th. The class that collects the most food items will win Papa Murphy's "Mini Murph" certificates as well as a class "Turkey Bowl."

Student council will be selling turkey feathers ($.25) to be placed on your classroom turkey to raise money for local food banks. The classroom with the highest percentage of student participation will be entered in a drawing for a chance to compete against the

Stuff-a-Truck classroom winner in a round of turkey bowling. So.. start saving those quarters and collecting those food items.

Let's see if we can break last year's record and collect over 800 cans of food and more than $650. Go Team Clarke!

Girl Scouts Bronze Award

Stuff-A-Truck

This year the Girl Scouts are working on their

Bronze Award. The Bronze award consists of two

parts, a journey and a take action project. The Girl Scouts made "Blankets for Hospice" for their take action project. They first learned about Hospice when they met with the person who started "Berrien County Blanket Brigade." After they met up with that person, they went to an "Admirals" game and collected half of the proceeds. They thought of many different ways to get a lot of people involved. One way was taking the blankets to camp. The last two things the girl scouts did was go to an open house for hospice and presented the blankets to Becky, the lady that started the Berrien County Blanket Brigade.  The bronze award is the third highest award in girl scouts.  Their leader, Elizabeth, quotes, "It gives girls an opportunity to make a difference while helping others and learning about themselves."  The girls know that every little thing counts!
